Circles of Light: Mussorgsky, Strauss & Painter

This March, the Academy performs a vibrant chamber orchestra version of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” arranged by Christian Lindberg. Equally popular is the First Horn Concerto by Richard Strauss, featuring the dynamic young soloist, Alexei Watkins.

The concert opens with Circles of Light by the Welsh composer Christopher Painter which is receiving its world premiere. The work depicts many links with light circles and Norwich — the first city to be lit by electric light.
