This programme brings together music of vivid colour, atmosphere and emotional intensity, from the refined lyricism of Gabriel Fauré to the luminous sound worlds of Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy. Fauré’s Pelléas et Mélisande Suite evokes the mystery and tenderness of Maeterlinck’s celebrated drama, while Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto in G minor provides a contrasting outpouring of Romantic passion and virtuosity.
